My name is Joel and I am 21 years old. I have been working at TBR for 2 years now. Currently I am studying a Business degree with a major in Marketing. I love sports and for many years Football was my passion. However now Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing) is my main focus. I have been training and competing in the art of Muay Thai for 2 years now. If you see me around the gym feel free to come have a chat and I’m happy to help with any fitness queries you may have.
My name is Lisa, I am married to Pete and together we have 8 children and 1 grandson. I came across The Boxing Room when it first opened, but as I was pregnant at the time I waited until after the birth to join, and I have never looked back. All my previous employment has been office work doing accounts payable/receivable and payroll, but after my last position was made redundant I decided to do something I am very passionate about and that was to teach Pilates. I completed my course 9 months ago and I now teach 2-3 classes a week at TBR, and I hope to bring the benefits of Pilates into your own lives with posture changes and core strength. I also compete in Surf Life Saving, love travelling, gardening, reading and enjoying life with my children and husband.
Linda O’Grady, one of our amazing, loyal members is putting on a exhibition of portraits she has painted at Juniper and Pine for the month of August.
Opening night is Thursday 4th August from 5.30pm-7.30pm. We’ll be heading down to support Linda and thought we would extend the invitation to our TBR family.
If you want to have a look through her work online here are the links to her FB page and website:

My name is Anne and I am 27 years old. I was born and raised in Germany and moved to Adelaide about 1.5 years ago. I have been studying Patisserie for the last year, which quickly lead to becoming a member at TBR to counter act all the beautiful treats we made at school. I finished my studies to become a personal trainer 3 months ago and I’m looking forward to further develop my skills at The Boxing Room. Please feel free to ask any questions you have about fitness (or cake) and come have a chat with me when I’m around at the gym.
What’s your favourite exercise at TBR?
Roundhouse Kicks or clams during Pilates.
What drew you to TBR?
Finding a place where I can box without having to spar, especially against more experienced fighters. TBR welcomes everyone no matter what level of experience, which makes it easier to start out. I’m thankful to be able to be part of that.
What’s one of your favourite combos?
Any well flowing 6 punch combination during B.O.X.
Favourite movie – “La Haine”
Which celebrity would you like to train?
A big, big thank you to all our members to completed our Sunday training survey. We had over 80 responses and the results are in…
50 percent of you asked for a 9.30am Boxing Fitness class so we are adding it to our schedule starting August 7th.
Anne has been kind enough to offer her time to run this class, which will give some of you a chance to get to know her better!
This class has been added to our schedule online and on our app so make sure you book in. We have a feeling this is going to be a busy class!

Why try our boxing classes?
- Our boxing classes are equal parts fitness, muscle building, socialising, fun and stress release – you might even connect with some new friends!
- Boxing classes are a great way to achieve your body goals in minimum time. This is because boxing classes combine cardio and strength training in one hit. So if you’re looking to drop weight, tone up, get strong and have some fun, then you don’t want to miss out on this!
- In our classes you’re only competing with yourself. You work at your own pace, with your own bag. There’s no judgement – everyone’s way too busy doing their own thing to notice what your ability level is!
- It’s a safer option than using focus pads. Working with our equipment means nobody has to catch punches (a highly specialised skill to get right). And you can never get this kind of muscle workout from boxing drills with focus pads.
